Tobermory, Canada
July 20-22, 2007
| Tobermory, Canada, at the entrance to Lake Huron’s Georgian Bay, is among our favorite summer getaways. You’ll find it easy to fill several days to the brim! It is a beautiful, friendly, harbor village at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, with many enjoyable attractions. |
You can visit the Bruce Peninsula National Park’s many nature trails for hiking and see the famous Flowerpot rock formations. Whether you are scuba diving, riding aboard a tour boat, or just watching the fish tugs and yachts come and go, Tobermory offers an exceptional opportunity to experience the Great Lakes’ maritime heritage. |
| The waters off Tobermory have long been popular with scuba divers. They are home to more than 22 known shipwrecks and geological formations. Depths range from 15 to 120 feet. Everyone from snorkelers to technical divers can find something to excite their interest within the park. |
Beginning divers can discover the wreck of the Sweepstakes in just 25 feet of water while more advanced divers may enjoy some of the deeper wrecks, such as the Niagara II, with depths to 102 feet. |
| The Fathom Five National Marine Park is Canada’s first national marine park. It is comprised of the previously existing Fathom Five Provincial Park and 19 islands which were formerly part of Georgian Bay Islands National Park. This includes the famous Flowerpot Island. |

This trip is open to divers and nondivers alike, and includes two nights’ accommodations at the lovely Princess hotel (double occupancy), continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday, dinner Saturday night and, for scuba divers, two two-tank boat dives aboard Deep Obsession. |
| The roomy, 45-foot-long, twin-diesel Deep Obsession was custom built for divers in 1997. Operated by 20-year veteran captain Larry Graham, it carries GPS, DAN oxygen and all Transport Canada required safety equipment. |
