Just Add Water

Saint Lawrence Seaway

July 11-13, 2008 or September 5-7

Wreck diver’s paradise! Since time immemorial, the Saint Lawrence River has served as a major artery of water-borne transportation into the heart of the North American continent. The treacherous hazards to navigation along the upper Saint Lawrence have resulted in numerous marine disasters and accidents. Many involved the loss of life.   Island
Freighter    Today, the legacy of these marine events provides the scuba diver with an opportunity to explore the many sites associated with the river's past. The excellent visibility, the moderate water temperature (74 degrees) with no thermoclines, the lack of severe sea conditions, the easy access and the quality and variety of the wrecks offers some of the best shipwreck diving to be found anywhere.
This unique trip offers:
  • Excellent sight seeing.
  • Thrilling diving.
  • Moderate depths.
  • Great opportunity for wreck specialty class.
   Wreck Diver
Dive Boat    In addition to shipwrecks the river offers other diving attractions. The underwater panorama of the Thousand Islands section of the river with its rock cliffs, ledges, nooks and crannies can be explored by drift diving with the current. Further down river, east of Prescott, one can explore the old canal systems and structures (such as bridges, house foundations, and wharves) that were located along the original river bank. These sites are now underwater because of the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
For this trip we’ll be staying at beautiful Caigers Resort. Located right on the water, it’s convenient for diving and there is an excellent restaurant on site.    Resort
